Champagnat Day

Date:
Tue 06 June 2017

Time:
09:00 am to 15:20 pm

This is a significant event in our Marist calendar as we celebrate the feast day of our founder St Marcellin Champagnat. The day commences with a celebration of the Eucharist in St Marcellin’s Hall for all students. During this liturgy we will reflect on our efforts to stand in solidarity with the marginalised and pray that we continue to have the courage and the commitment to reaching out to those in need. Students will be provided with a special free BBQ lunch, which will be prepared by the Canteen staff, and then will participate in a variety of House organised activities. The day will conclude with the excitement of the annual Marcellin’s Got Talent, showcasing the wonderful talents of our boys and staff.

As part of our commitment as a Marist family to standing in solidarity with those at the margins, the College expects that students contribute a minimum donation of $10. Students and/or families are welcome to donate more if they wish.

Our donations will support education initiatives in Pailin, Cambodia. We are proud to support the work of the Marist Brothers in that community, which is the most disadvantaged and marginalized region in Cambodia, and look forward to our Cambodian Immersion pilgrims living and working in solidarity with the community later this year. The total of our donations will be presented to a Marist representative on behalf of our students, staff and families after our Liturgy on Champagnat Day.

This is a compulsory school day and all students are expected to attend. Those students who do not attend must bring a medical certificate upon their return to the College to explain their absence. Students are permitted to attend this event in appropriate casual attire.

We ask that St Marcellin Champagnat pray for us and that our celebration of his feast day further enriches our experience of the Marist Charism. We look forward to another enjoyable day.
