Introducing the 2025 Squash Captain

Squash Captain 2025

Angus, a Year 11 student from Kenny House, has made a remarkable impact at Marcellin College through his dedication to both academics and Beyond the Classroom programs. A former student of Our Lady of Good Counsel in Deepdene, Angus began his sporting journey at Marcellin in Year 7, focusing on squash and soccer. Since then, he has shown both skill and commitment, particularly excelling in squash, where he debuted for the 1st team in 2023. Angus's proudest moment to date is his role in securing the Division 4 championship with his squash team. He aims to continue this success, hoping to bring in new players and encourage them to embrace the sport.

Balancing sports, academics, and extracurriculars, Angus manages a busy schedule. With squash training once a week and games on Saturday mornings, he maintains productivity in and out of the classroom. His involvement extends beyond athletics; he actively participates in Marcellin College’s social justice initiatives, volunteering with the Game Changers program, which allows him to serve the community and develop leadership skills.

A talented musician, Angus also represents Marcellin College at the Victorian Schools Music Festival (VSMF) and performs in both Senior and Intermediate Concert Bands. He has participated in the prestigious Generations in Jazz festival in Mount Gambier, where he plays in the Big Band and Small Jazz Ensemble, demonstrating his versatility and commitment to the arts.

As Captain of the squash team, Angus is eager to mentor younger players, helping them grow and succeed in the sport. He encourages junior players to approach sports with enthusiasm and an open mind, valuing the connections and mental health benefits that sports bring. Angus is excited to lead his team towards another successful season and aims to foster a welcoming environment where new players can enjoy the benefits of physical activity.

With a vision for a strong, unified team, Angus exemplifies the Marcellin College spirit, showing that with dedication, students can excel across academics, sports, and community initiatives.

We wish Angus well for the season ahead.
