Marcellin College's Sporting Principles are foundational guidelines that promote fair play, respect and camaraderie. These principles are often ingrained in athletes from an early age, shaping their approach to sports. When representing the College, athletes are encouraged to embody these principles, ensuring that their conduct on the field reflects integrity and sportsmanship. The aim is to nurture not just skilled athletes, but also respectful, well-rounded and empathetic young men who carry these principles beyond the sports field into their broader lives.

Marcellin College Participation Policy
Participation according to the relative abilities of each student is mandatory. Students selected for College teams must meet all commitments to these teams – training and performing. On enrolment at Marcellin College, students and parents understand that their enrolment involves a commitment to the co-curricular life of the College and in particular school sport. This commitment is for the entire time the student is at the College and not just the first few years. Therefore, if a student chooses to participate in an activity in the community that is also offered at Marcellin College, it is mandatory that the student will represent Marcellin if required by the College.AFL Victoria (Football) and Football Victoria (Soccer) have a Memorandum of Understanding with the AGSV. Concussion Policy
Player welfare is the number one priority of the Marcellin College Sport Program.
Scientific research into the effects of concussion on the brain has revealed that even mild concussion can have serious consequences for young people unless it is carefully managed.
Evidence from clinical studies has taught us that until a concussed brain is completely healed, the brain may be vulnerable to further injury. Sports bodies have responded to this evidence by changing the way in which concussions are managed. The Associated Grammar Schools of Victoria (AGSV) takes its duty of care seriously.
A major responsibility of staff involved in AGSV sport is the well-being of students participating in games or training sessions. The following guidelines are followed by all staff involved in AGSV / VRSU sport.
All correspondence regarding concussion is to be done by emailing concussion.notification@marcellin.vic.edu.au
Definition
Concussion is a complex process caused by trauma that transmits force to the brain either directly or indirectly and results in temporary impairment of brain function. A player can sustain concussion without losing consciousness.

House Carnivals
The Inter-School House Swimming and Inter-House Athletics Carnivals are annual highlights at Marcellin College, bringing together students in a spirited display of athleticism, teamwork and House pride. These events foster healthy competition as students from different houses compete in a variety of swimming and track events, aiming to earn points for their house. Beyond the competition, the carnivals promote school spirit, inclusivity, and camaraderie, with students cheering each other on and celebrating personal and team achievements. These days are not only about winning but also about participation, sportsmanship, and embracing the Marcellin College community values through active involvement.
Inter-House Swimming Carnival
Held at Boroondara Sports Complex pool, all boys are encouraged to have a go at an activity level that suits them. Freestyle events in the 50m pool stretch all the way down from Heat A to Heat J. Freestyle not your go then try backstroke or breaststroke. The emphasis of the day is maximal participation, trying your best and doing something for your House.
Inter-House Athletics Carnival
Held at Tom Kelly Athletics Track in Doncaster this full day event gives all boys the opportunity to get active. The day starts with a 3000m event with up to 60 people on the track trying to put their house in the early lead. 100m events down the main straight start with the A Heats and stretch all the way down to heat J in each year level to give opportunities to all.
